The unidentified treasurer of the Maine Seacoast Mission writes to Mrs. John I. Kane telling her of the purpose of the Seacoast Mission home in Bar Harbor and stating that the board believes they must buy the house, currently for sale, rather than risk it being purchased by another party. Purchasing the building would take almost the entire endowment of the Mission, however, and so the treasurer suggests that a gift to support the purchase of the home it would be an excellent investment opportunity for someone, like Mrs. Kane, who likes to do good.
